KIDS CAFE®
The mission of Feeding America's Kids Cafe Program is to provide meals to disadvantaged children in an environment that is safe, accessible and convenient. The Food Bank for Larimer County (FBLC) assists in this mission as the sponsor of six Kids Cafe program sites.
The goals of the Kids Cafe program are to provide children, ages 3-18, who are at risk of hunger, access to a nutritious meal, nutrition, and health education after school and during the summer months. To accomplish this, the FBLC has partnered with local youth centers to provide meals year-round to at-risk children in Larimer County.
The Food Bank recently renovated its commercial kitchen and plans, preps, and prepares hundreds of meals in-house each day for the six Kids Cafe sites in Larimer County. The meals served to our Kids Cafe children are nutritious - focusing on healthy lean meats, fresh dairy, and vegetables and fruits.
In 2008, nearly 56,000 meals were served to children from low-income families. Today, Kids Cafe serves approximately 300 meals a day to children in Larimer County.
The Meadows, 1056 Lynx Lane in Loveland, is a Kids Cafe site that has partnered with sponsor Crossroads Ministries to provide parent meals free of charge. All other Kids Cafe sites are free to children and $2 for parents.
