Great Plates of Downtown Fort Collins
This popular event provides the public with opportunities to support the Food Bank for Larimer County by encouraging attendees to “leave their change” after enjoying the great dinner specials during the two week event in Downtown Fort Collins. The partnership developed when local restaurant owners expressed interest in giving back to the community following the overwhelming success of Great Plates. In the first year of the partnership, Great Plates raised $6,700 for the Food Bank. During Great Plates of Downtown 2013, participating restaurants raised over $35,000 for hunger relief.

Cans Around the Oval at Colorado State University

More than 150 different CSU campus and community organizations participate in this event each October to bring in much needed food for hunger relief programs at the Food Bank. In 2013, the drive collected nearly 40,000 pounds of food and nearly $50,000. This event is sponsored and organized by the Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement (SLiCE) office at CSU.
Longs Peak Boy Scouts Food Drive
Each year, Longs Peak Council Boys Scout troops hit the pavement to collect non-perishable food for the annual Boy Scouts of America’s “Scouting for Food” drive. More than 1,000 boys from 50 Longs Peak Council Boy Scout Troops and Cub Scout Packs participate in this popular food drive.
Most needed items include: Peanut butter, canned meats in water, pasta/rice, low-sugar cereal. For every $1 donated, the Food Bank can provide food for 4 nutritious meals.
PSD Turkey Round Up/Holiday Turkey Drive
Each year, the Food Bank collects, stores, and then distributes turkeys and holiday "fixins" to our agency partners, including Salvation Army and Catholic Charities who, in turn, provide holiday meals and/or holiday meal baskets. This year's goal is 2,000 turkeys. To help meet the need, PSD holds its Annual Turkey Round Up each November. Each year, PSD staff and students compete to collect the most turkeys to donate to the Food Bank. The remainder of the turkeys are donated by companies, churches and individuals who join together to make sure everyone in our community has a holiday meal.
